Does exposure to magnets or magnetic fields cause people harm?

Not at all. We have done extensive research on this topic, and according to the WHO (World Health Organization), any exposure to static magnets have not been proven to have any negative effects on humans. Can my child accidentally swallow the magnets?

Our magnetic fasteners are enclosed in safety pouches that have been meticulously sewn into the garments making the magnets beyond the reach of infants. The closures are stitched between multiple layers of material and this would take some significant effort for the magnet to be removed or exposed. Should the item of clothing tear or rip and the magnet become exposed, immediately discontinue use of the product. Tip: inspect the garment occasionally to ensure safety and coverage of the magnet.

Will the Magnetic Munchkin Product save me time?

Absolutely! This is why we love our products so much! We have been completely converted into using magnetic fastened clothing on our little one. The convenience of the magnetic fasteners save you time that would be spent dressing your baby, when you could be spending this valuable time playing, feeding or napping with your baby.

Do the products contain lead?

No, our products do not contain lead.

What about pacemakers? I heard magnets can interfere with them.

Keep all of our products away from pacemakers. The magnets in our garments may interfere with the proper function of pacemakers and other sensitive electronics.

Shipping & Processing

How long is delivery?

Delivery anywhere in South Africa takes anywhere between 1-4 working days depending on where you are based.

KZN and Gauteng – 1 Day
Rest of SA – 2-4 Days

Delivery outside RSA takes approximately 3-10 business days via DHL Express and Aramex.

Can I order from outside of South Africa?

Yes! We ship world-wide using DHL and Aramex at a flat-rate of R700.00. Unfortunately, there is no free shipping available for international orders, regardless of basket size. So use the opportunity to stock up!

What if I need to change my order?

We get it, sometimes we just change our minds! While we may not be able to change or cancel your order immediately, please email hello@magneticmunchkin.co.za or call us on 0767309617 as soon as possible and we will do our best to assist you in changing or canceling your order. If the order has been processed and shipped, Magnetic Munchkin will not be able to cancel the order, and you will need to submit a request for a refund after your order has been received. Courier fees will be at your own cost.

What payment methods do you accept?

We accept Cheque and Credit cards, Instant EFT, Mobicred, Masterpass, SnapScan, Debit Cards, SCode and Zapper.

You have the option to checkout with either one of our secure payment gateways:

HOW DO I GET FREE DELIVERY?

It’s easy! Get FAST & FREE SHIPPING anywhere in SA when your total order is over R600.

DELIVERY COST IN SA?

If your total order is less than R600 you pay a flat-rate of R50.00 for your parcel to be delivered anywhere in SA, right to your door! 

HOW DOES INTERNATIONAL SHIPPING WORK?

We ship world-wide using DHL and Aramex.
R350.00 for orders. (Approximately $18)

Unfortunately, there is no free shipping available for international orders, regardless of basket size. So use the opportunity to stock up!

Orders placed before 12:00 are processed and sent that day, otherwise they will be sent the following business day. 

HOW LONG DOES DELIVERY TAKE INTERNATIONALLY?

Delivery outside RSA takes approximately 3-10 business days via DHL Express or Aramex and also includes regular email updates of your delivery status. Please note that once your order arrives in your country, it will be assessed by customs. Based on your country’s legislation, you may need to pay a fee to release the goods into the country. Once that amount is paid, the courier will deliver your parcel to your door. 

Magnetic Munchkin is not responsible for any possible duties and taxes which may be applied by customs in the country where delivery is made. The responsibility for any custom duties, foreign taxes or other fees, which may be imposed, will rest with the customer. We do not refund customers that reject their packages upon arrival for failure to pay duty fees.

CAN I RATHER COLLECT MY ORDER? 

Yes, this way you will pay no delivery fee! Simply select “Collection” during checkout. You will receive an email notifying you when your order is ready (if placed before 12:00 your order can be collected the same day otherwise it will be ready the following business day).

Where can I find my order confirmation & shipping information?

A confirmation of your order and invoice will be emailed to you as soon as the order has been received and paid for. Shipping information will be emailed as soon as your order is shipped.

Will I need to pay customs for my international order?

Please note that once your order arrives in your country, it will be assessed by customs. Based on your country’s legislation, you may need to pay a fee to release the goods into the country. Once that amount is paid, DHL will deliver your parcel to your door.

Are magnets washer & dryer safe?/Are there special care instructions?

All of our products are washer and dryer safe. Please follow the care instructions on the garment. Different fabrics will have different care instructions so please thoroughly read the labels before washing and drying the product.Caution:close the fasteners before popping them in the washing machine and dryer. Returns & Exchanges

What is your return policy?

HERE’S HOW TO GET STARTED: FIRSTLY, PLEASE ENSURE THAT YOU MEET THE RETURN AND EXCHANGE CONDITIONS BELOW:

  • To be eligible for a return or an exchange, the garments must be unworn, unwashed, undamaged, in it’s original packaging.
  • We offer an exchange or return period of 30 days from date of purchase. Exchanges or returns after 30 days will regrettably not be considered. 
  • Non-returnable items include: Gift Cards as well as sale/promo/discounted items.
  • Regrettably we can not offer returns or exchanges on international orders – the reason being, South Africa customs charges us duty to bring the item back into the country and it becomes an unjustifiably costly process.

 

If all these criteria have been met, simply send an email to hello@magneticmunchkin.co.za to start the process! The email should include the details of the product you are returning, preferably including a photo, as well as your order number.

 

HERE’S HOW IT WORKS:

If the reason for the return/exchange was our mistake, we will gladly cover the cost of transport to collect your order and either send you a new one or process a refund. 

If you have had a change of heart, made an error with your size or style, all courier costs are liable by you. You may use your own courier or request that we make the arrangements on your behalf, provided you have paid for it.

Once your returned item is received, inspected and declared in perfect condition, we will prepare the new garment for shipping or process the refund.  This process may take anything up to 5-7 business days to process.

When can I expect my refund?

Refunds are processed through the payment gateway originally used at checkout and credited directly to your card. Between the payment gateway and your bank this usually takes 5-7 business days to process the transaction but we will keep you updated as best as possible.

I received a gift, how do I exchange it?

Email hello@magneticmunchkin.co.za and we will help you through the exchange process. Delivery fees will be at your own cost.

About Us

What is Magnetic Munchkin's Mission / Aim of the game?

We get your frustration, we’ve been there too. It’s late and you haven’t slept very much, your baby is crying, and is hungry, it’s feeding time, and yup, definitely time for another nappy change. One hand is holding your precious angel, and the other hand is trying to, either keep your eyelids open or struggling to button up their tiny clothes. Ah yes, all done. Then you realize, that due to your babies’ wriggling or your lack of sleep – you’ve totally got the buttons all mixed up and wrong or even worse, you’ve caught your babies skin in one of the zippers, and now they’re crying again. Ouch! Urgh! Time to start again (with one hand). The frustration! It was in that moment where our new baby; Magnetic Munchkin, was born!

We discussed our frustration about the buttons, zippers and snaps, and before we knew it, we were online, researching alternative and simplified clothing options for our son, Rainn. That is when we discovered magnetic fasteners and couldn’t believe the lack of availability in South Africa! We spent weeks researching the safety of magnetic closures and had to get a few to try and test them out for ourselves. After realizing how simple and easy the fasteners work (they basically do the work themselves), it really was a no-brainer! Our honest mission is to simplify babies’ clothing, minimizing the time spent dressing your baby, which allows even more time to spend bonding with them.

How do you ensure quality?

After months of trials and errors and testing of various fabrics, we finally found exceptional quality materials to be used for our garments. We have sourced the best magnets and developed the safest sewing method to ensure our magnetic range is not only convenient and cute, but also safe and secure. We are extraordinarily proud of our products and have chosen only the best fabrics to use on our own little bubba.

Where are your clothes made? What are they made from?

All of our garments are locally made in Durban, South Africa. We opted for high quality cotton as our primary fabric, as it is soft and breathable, making it the perfect fit for your baby to be both snuggled and comfortable in.
